Submissions to Equus Spirit

We're seeking submissions!

Equus Spirit publishes nonfiction stories, articles, essays, and poetry focused on the personal aspects of the horse-human relationship. We're interested in your stories and articles about emotional healing, significant or unusual personal growth, life transformation, and spiritual development via a horse relationship, and related themes.

We are also interested in pieces focused on the personal, emotional and spiritual relationship you have with a horse.

Additionally, we seek nonfiction stories about extraordinary horses from an emotional and/or spiritual aspect. Horses that have healed from emotional wounds or difficult situations to go on to pass that healing to humans or other horses or animals, etc.

Personal nonfiction stories, articles and essays from people of any horsemanship ability, style, school or experience are welcome. You may ride or work with horses on the ground. You may or may not own a horse. You may have had only one transformative experience with a horse or spent your life with them. You may have had no personal experience with horses, but have an article appropriate to our publication.

Articles and nonfiction narratives by professionals working in the mental health and human development fields with equines are highly encouraged.

All work must be submitted in Word and sent via email. We prefer, but it is not required, your submitted document to be single spaced and in Verdana type, 12 pt.

All writing is subject to editing..

NOTE: Equus Spirit requires a link to us on your website, if you have one, upon publication of your article. If you provide the website address, we will reciprocate with a link to your site, at the end of your article.

Equus Spirit cannot offer monetary compensation for accepted submissions. Your published work will be credited and we will place a brief biographical description (subject to approval and editing) and contact information at the end of the article.

Unless other arrangements are made with Equus Spirit in advance, you assign nonexclusive world rights across all media to Equus Spirit upon acceptance of your submission for publication by Equus Spirit. 'Nonexclusive' means you are free to continue publish your piece in other publications and venues.
